5 Minutes with 2015-16 Fashion at the Races Winner Justine Lundberg

Adelaide local Justine Lundberg was crowned South Australia's best-dressed racegoer topping off the 2016-16 competition and impressing the judges with her stand out ensemble and winning the cultural experience of a lifetime.

Fifteen of the State's most stylish ladies were vying for the top prize at Schweppes Oaks Day at Morphettville on Saturday, May 7, hoping to take home an overseas trip to the fashion capitals of Asia.

The event's judging panel included Keepsake The Label head designer Carmen Dugan; editor of Clique Magazine Charlotte Chambers; Angela Menz, who makes up one half of blogging duo On Track on Trend; and Matt Stuart, Brand Manager at Thoroughbred Racing SA. They selected Justine from an outstanding group of contenders who had been crowned fashion leaders at the various race meets around the State.

Ms Menz, who hails from Melbourne, said the final decision was not an easy one to make.

“We really wanted to see that ‘wow-factor' shine through - someone who excelled in terms of their outfit but also presented with sophistication and confidence. Justine is to be congratulated on her flawless presentation - she was certainly most deserving of the title,” Ms Menz said.

Justine, a mother-of-two, will jet off on a 10-day tour of Hong Kong, Shanghai and Macau, with the prize including business class return tickets for two, accommodation, shopping tours, sightseeing and a private box at the Sha Tin racecourse during the world-famous Hong Kong International.

We sat down with the stylish winner of the competition to find out more - entrants take note!

Congratulations on your win! How did you feel when you were announced as the winner of Fashion at the Races 2015-16?

Honestly, I couldn't believe it!! I felt really overwhelmed, it was so surreal... Such a brilliant day had by all.

Your beautiful outfit won you the competition, who were the designers you wore and what was your inspiration for putting the look together?

The designers I wore were Carla Zampatti, Mimco, Olga Berg, Wayne Cooper and Debbie Kelly Millinery. As the final was in the Autumn Carnival, dressing to the season was imperative. I was drawn to the long split sleeves and billowy shoulders in the dress.

How would you describe your race day style?

I would like to say "on trend" but that is totally up to individual interpretation

What advice would you give to the competition entrants this year?

Stay true to your own style and wear it with confidence.

As the winner of the competition you won an incredible trip to Asia - who are you taking, and what are you looking forward to the most?

I am taking my husband, Ben. We are both most looking forward to spending the day at the Longines Hong Kong International Races at Sha Tin Racetrack, oh and the business class airfares!

To have a chance at winning the 2016-17 competition, be sure to enter one of the 26 qualifying events throughout the year, kicking off on August 31 at the Balaklava Cup.
