Warm Up For Winter

While we're sad to say goodbye to the warm weather and sunny days trackside, there's something great about changing it up with boots and jackets for a day at the races. While Autumn and Winter presents some style challenges, who doesn't love getting to pull out the furs and leathers, layer up with tights and skirts, and of course the amazing high heel boots styles we're seeing at the moment.

Make sure to collect a few of these Winter wardrobe staples, and you'll be ready and rugged up for the next cooler day at the track.

Velvet

No longer a long-forgotten trend of the late 20th century, velvet is back in a big way in fashion as a statement texture. Winter makes you think warm, soft blankets, so why not reflect that in your outfit with an eye-catching velvet dress or jacket.

Wool Fedoras

Autumn/Winter means wool, and for simple but stylish millinery look no further than a wool fedora or wide brimmed hat. It's the perfect way to make any outfit fit for a race day, and is also helpful in protecting hair from the elements. South Australian based 66 The Label does amazing wool hats that will never go out of style, like this Wool Sonic Hat.

Long-line skirts

Keep those chilly winds off your legs with a longer-length skirt - a length that stops mid-calf is a flattering style to still show shape in your legs, and give some room for a higher length boot. We love the Say It Again Skirt in mustard from C/MEO Collective, giving a pop of colour but still keeping in with the Autumn/Winter tonal trends.

Stretch Suede Boots

One of the biggest shoe trends of the past season is the sock-style in boots - a tight, suede style of ankle boot that fits to your feet, and looks super glamarous. They've been seen on everyone from the Kardashians to Lindy Klim, and they certainly seem like a trend that's here to stay. A good stretch style boot is perfect for a day trackside, with a glam look that will tie in with a dressy race day outfit, but still be nice and practical when walking around on the grass. Legendary Australian shoe store Tony Bianco does some beautiful styles, but we love the touch of copper on the Ajay boot.

And for the men....

A good jacket is the key to any gentlemen's race day get up, and for the cold weather, a tweed or wool weight jacket is the way to go. You'll be toasty warm, but still looking stylish with a standout pattern, and finish off with a coloured pocket square poking out.
