5 minutes with the winner - Balaklava Cup

The first event of the competition, the Balaklava Cup, kicked off the season in typical Balaklava fashion; a huge day of racing at the Balakalava Racecourse, with a bit of wet and windy weather on the side!

The competition saw some Spring styles, matched with some Winter comfort, and plenty of colour and pattern. The event was won by Marie Jeffries, in a striking red look that impressed the judges.

We caught up with Marie post-win, as the first winner of the new competition!

For work I: am a Fairy!

To win Fashions on the Field I wore: A Thurley Dress, Felicity Northeast Millinery and Isabella Brown Shoes.

I started coming to The Races: about 7 years ago, upon encouragement from my friends.

And I couldn’t do a day trackside without: champagne!

The last time I entered Fashions on the Field: Balaklava Races and Melbourne Cup Day SAJC 2016.

My wardrobe looks like: a mess, shelves for my beautiful bags, and I attempt to keep the rest in order.

But my favourite thing I own is: a Mulberry Bag.

What people might not know about me: I'm a real life fairy!

Weekends look like: Work, work! Fairy parties - my shop in the Bay is pretty busy on the weekends. Lots of happy, smiling children!

I love to indulge in: Oysters and wine!

My kind of day out is: The Races, when I can sneak away from work!

On my bucket list I want to: Drive a Ferrari.

I wish I could have a glass of bubbles with: Queen Elizabeth II

This year I am looking forward to: Travelling to Melbourne for some races and Christmas!

I love The Races because: it's a chance to dress up, catch up with wonderful friends, and enjoy a day out like no other!
