5 minutes with the winner - Gawler Cup

Gawler's annual Cup Day always draws a huge crowd of locals from the Gawler and Barossa area, and this year also drew plenty of colourful racegoers dressing to impress to the track.

At this year's Gawler Cup Channel 7 Presenter and Fashion at The Races Ambassador Gertie Spurling was on hand to take the crowd through the competition, with an array of colours, patterns, and an unmissable reoccuring splash of pink throughout the entrants - both in the ladies and gentlemen categories!

The judges awarded Oksana Caretti the Best Dressed Title, taking home $1000 cash, a $200 The Daily Edited voucher, and a beautiful Pandora bracelet. We spoke to Oksana after her win, becoming the fifth qualifying winner of the competition!

Gawler Winners

For work: I am a Office Manager

To win Fashions on the Field I wore: Dolce & Gabbana Inspired Dress, my own Millinery, Tony Bianco shoes, Lovisa accessories and a vintage metal handbag.

I started coming to The Races: 4 years ago

And I couldn’t do a day trackside without: stand out headwear

The last time I entered Fashions on the Field: Oakbank Easter Races 2017

My wardrobe looks like: I love recycling and altering clothes so there’s always a pile of something that I plan to change or alter

The most embarrassing thing I’ve ever worn: I honestly can’t think of any…

But my fave thing I own is: Manolo Blahnik shoes

What people might not know about me: I love art and fashion, studied dressmaking and millinery and was SA State winner in 2006 Spotlight National Formal Wear Competition

Weekends look like: morning at the gym and Farmer’s market and then spending time with family

I love to indulge in: eating sushi

My kind of day out: seafood lunch followed by walking bare feet through Semaphore and Largs Bay beaches

On my bucket list I want to: master my French and drive through the most beautiful French wine chateaux in a vintage car

I wish I could have a glass of bubbles with: Celine Dion

This year I’m looking forward to: going to Oaks Kennedy Day in Melbourne and graduating TAFE SA Cert.4 in Millinery

I love the Races because: it’s an outlet for my creativity in fashion styling and an opportunity to catch up with friends
