It's also a chance to dress up in your summer best, swapping heels for flats, fascinators for sun hats, and the men can swap the suit pants for chino shorts!
There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy a day trackside throughout the summer in South Australia, both local and through the country. Whether you're a racing purist, fashion lover or looking for a family fun day, there's a day for you.
Scott's Group of Companies Mount Gambier Gold Cup - Friday 1st of December
For the first time ever residents of Mount Gambier and the Limestone Coast will be swapping scarves for sunhats, with the annual Gold Cup now a Twilight meet on the 1st of December to mark the start of Summer. Due to next year's track upgrades for Mount Gambier, there's sure to be quite a contrast in the Fashion at The Races competition with entrants sure to be sporting summer styles. It's set to be a beautiful afternoon and evening of summer racing, so if you're near or far be sure to get there!
Bordertown Cup - Sunday 10th of December
It may be a small town but it's a big day of racing at the Bordertown Cup. Be a part of the Fashion at The Races competition in our summer best, or just head along for a fun day of country racing!
Twilight Races at Morphettville - Friday 15th of December
The Twilight Races at Morphettville have to be one of the biggest and best days of the year, where thousands descend on Adelaide's premier racecourse for a balmy afternoon and evening of racing, trackside dining, and plenty of hospitality. There are still a couple of packages still for sale, so be sure to book for the perfect opportunity to celebrate the end of the year with colleagues, friends and family. The Twilight Lawn Party - also open to General Admission ticket holders - will feature live DJs spinning tunes into the evening, food trucks, a Pimms Garden and Mumm champagne Bar, and more.
Twilight Series - January 2018
More information is on its way, but the Twilight series is set to feature 4 Saturdays in a row of Twilight racing at its finest at both the Gawler and Barossa Jockey Club, and Morphettville Racecourse. Check The Races SA Website for updates!
Penola Coonawarra Cup - Thursday 18th of January
Coonawarra is widely known as one of the state's top wine regions, so what better day to celebrate it than the Penola Coonawarra Cup! Experience a fun-filled day featuring plenty of local food and wine, book into one of the beautiful marquees if you're feeling fancy! Be sure to experience this wonderful region on the Limestone Coast and this pictureqsue setting.
Australia Day Races, Murray Bridge Racing Club - Friday 26th of January
If you're planning on spending Australia Day with mates, why not head up to Murray Bridge to enjoy a day of racing! There are packages available, or simply head up there to enjoy the day.
Strathalbyn Cup - Sunday 4th of February
If you've been to Strathalbyn before, you'll know just how beautiful it is. If you haven't, now's the time to go! This picturesque racecourse provides the perfect backdrop for a sunny Sunday in your summer best, best enjoyed with a picnic basket, a group of friends, and a drop or two of South Australian wine. The fashion stakes will be high with the Fashion at The Races competition, but you're also welcome to enjoy a more relaxed approach to race wear.
SeaLink Kangaroo Island Racing Carnival - Saturday 17th of February
It's acclaimd as one of the most exquisite regions in the world, so we know how lucky we are to have Kangaroo Island on our door step. The annual Kangaroo Island Raicng Carnival sees a huge crowd of both locals and intrastate visitors enjoying a day of racing, as well as beautiful trackside hospitality featuring local producers, and incredible prizes to be won in the Fashion at The Races competition.
