Millinery Moments: The best headpieces of the UBET Festival of Racing

May at Morphettville saw three Saturdays of Group 1 races, featuring Million Dollar Race Days on Oaks Day and Darley Goodwood Day, with fashion favourite Derby Day in between. Some of the nation’s most stylish women took to the track as all eyes were on Adelaide during the UBET Festival of Racing.

While garments enjoyed their glory, we marvelled at the millinery. Displaying a collection of local and international talent, the trends favoured delicate headbands, bold boaters and floral fascinators, complemented by hair looks to try at home for your next occasion.

Social Media Ambassador Dani Adey rocked uber-femme cascading curls paired with a golden pearl-adorned headband, giving us inspiration to make magic in our manes with the Cloud Nine Waving Wand. Demonstrating a softer version of the style, Pippa Wanganeen exuded whimsical charm with her waves topped with a nude multi-textured crown on Oaks Day.

Going straight with her strands, fellow ambassador Lauren Dilena partnered her jumpsuit with a super-modern translucent band. To achieve Lauren’s volume, start your styling with evo root canal volumising spray then finish with The Wide Iron by Cloud Nine for some serious vixen vibes. However, if you’re topping your ensemble with a hat, take note from the Face of the 2018 Festival of Racing Bel Sloane and use the iron to add a hint of movement through the ends.

Our favourite look from Social Media Ambassador Jamie Reilly was the black straw boater for Derby Day, complete with a tucked low ponytail. Add texture with evo shebang-a-bang dry spray wax to keep your locks looking current. Taking her ponytail a few notches higher was Derby Day Ambassador Jessie Wright who wrapped her sleek strands in a black ribbon piece, showing us how to shake up the concept of traditional millinery.

Take a look at those who came, played and slayed this May…
