STREET STYLE LOOKS FROM THE STRATHALBYN CUP

In a mere 40-minute cruise from Adelaide, Strathalbyn’s boutique club entices racegoers to experience one of South Australia’s most picturesque destinations in style. The Northpoint Fleurieu Strathalbyn Cup has earned its reputation as one of the state’s greatest sartorial spectacles, enticing tourists and locals to embrace the iconic atmosphere of the day.

Our FATR Ambassador Lauren Dilena noticed a particularly fashionable crowd amid her hosting duties, noting colour as a major trend at Strathalbyn. “All the ladies frocked up in some of the best creative and innovative hand-made outfits I’ve ever seen,” Lauren said. “One competition entrant really had me excited as she was inspired by her recent holiday to Vietnam and her entire outfit head-to-toe took us on her travel journey, which makes my role so worthwhile.”

According to Lauren, the majority of racegoers went for clashing bold pops of colour, a hint of floral and lace. “The clashing colours was definitely a massive win with our judging panel,” Lauren said. “Pink, turquoise and red were the popular pop colours that caught my eye on stage, but I was also drawn to the classic monochromatic black and white trend, which was a big hit for both women and men.”

In Lauren’s style expert opinion, the regional races are giving the bigger carnivals a run for their money. “I was literally blown away by the very thought-out competition entrants,” Lauren said. “Our male competition winner looked incredible, I admired the use of elements and all the attention to detail from head to toe,” she said. “He just executed it flawlessly and even dared to be different wearing a leather backpack on stage!”

Lauren’s look was a collaboration between her and her ultra-talented mother, who is known to whip up a winning racewear look. “Whoever knows me, knows I’m a huge fan of prints – more the merrier I say!” Lauren said. “Especially at the moment I’m loving a duo two-piece outfit, as I know I’ll get much more wear out in the future,” she said. “I teamed this Amalfi-inspired fabric with a straw belt bag, bamboo oversized hoops earrings both by Witchery and Dolce Vita Shoes from David Jones Store.”

Creating a serious millinery moment, Lauren sported a set of neutral straw braided clips by Mimi Jane Millinery with her romantic waves styled by MY STYLE SQUAD and Ash Dale Hair. Lauren’s polished natural makeup look was created by artist Nirvana Manly. “She always does a great job, especially making sure my makeup stayed put all day,” Lauren said.
