Media Release: Trackside’s best dressed crowned at Fashion At The Races final

As this year’s Fashion At The Races (FATR) season reaches the finish line, South Australia’s most stylish racegoers have been decided at the competition’s highly anticipated State Final event.

Taking place on Friday 13 September at Stone’s Throw, the FATR State Final saw the overall competition winners selected from finalists for the 2018/19 season, with Alex Hecker taking home the winner’s sash for Best Dressed Womenswear. The event also marked the official launch of the 2019/20 Fashions on the Field season.

The season’s fashion forward winners were awarded not only the coveted state titles, but also some huge prizes. As Best Dressed Womenswear winner, Alex received a $5,000 shopping spree at BNKR and $500 cash, while Best Dressed Menswear winner Jack Reynolds walked away with $500 cash, and a $500 voucher for The Daily Edited, Rossi Boots and ORTC.

Best Dressed Womenswear Runner-Up Melissa Barnes did not leave empty handed, awarded a $1,000 Evo Prize Pack and a $1,000 voucher for The Daily Edited. Jaimee Bruggemann was voted People’s Choice Winner by online voters, taking home a $1,000 Media Makeup prize pack.

As snap worthy as ever, the event hosted guests including media personalities and prominent women in racing. Local style icon Chris Kontos hosted the event with Miles Pfitzner from The Races Edit Radio as co-host, while star South Australian jockey Raquel Clark featured as a guest speaker alongside trainer Chantelle Jolly and owner Zoe Kelly.

FATR Ambassador, stylist and blogger Lauren Dilena was part of the impressive judging line-up on the day and said that she is excited to attend, host and judge more competitions over the next year as she continues as FATR Ambassador for the upcoming season.

“All of this year’s finalists truly went above and beyond, so anyone wanting to enter next season should definitely look to their outfits and accessories for inspiration,” said Lauren.

“Being a part of this year’s FATR season has been so much fun, and I can’t wait to do it all again – I’ve travelled to country race meets, met lots of incredible people and have been seriously blown away by the effort and creativity that contestants put into their race day attire.”

Joining Lauren on the judging panel were The Advertiser Fashion Editor Anna Vlach, Fashion At The Races Content Writer Ava Abiad and TRSA Industry Marketing Manager Michelle Greene.

“Racing style is all about personal expression and attention to detail, and the judges were certainly impressed with the unique ensembles, personality and flair we saw this year. It made our job very difficult,” said Lauren.

“If you’re thinking about entering in a Fashions on the Field across South Australia, I say go for it! There’s no better opportunity to showcase your personal style and wear something you wouldn’t normally have the chance to wear.”

For the 2019/20 season, the power will rest with the people as the top prize will be the Fashion At The Races People’s Choice State Final Award. Fashionistas from across the state are encouraged to enter their chosen Fashions on the Field event – full dates and locations to be released soon – for their chance to be named a finalist.

The overall winner will be decided from these finalists by public votes (open for seven days) on the Fashions on the Field digital voting platform, and will take home a huge $2,000 cash, $5000 BNKR voucher, $1000 The Daily Edited Voucher, $1,000 Evo Hair and Cloud Nine prize pack and $1,000 Rossi Boots Voucher.
